Mary D (Dowdy) McClure

Mary Dowdy McClure, 91, of Florence, passed away February 6, 2016 at ECM Hospital. She was a member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ, and was retired from TVA after 42 years of service.

Visitation will be Monday, February 8, 2016 from 11-1 pm at Greenview Funeral Home with the funeral service beginning at 1 pm in Greenview Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be Kenny Barfield. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Park.

Mrs. McClure was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, James Y. McClure, her son Doug McClure, parents Hobart and Grace Dowdy, sister Wilma Stutts, and brother Hobart “Sonny” Dowdy Jr.

She is survived by her two grandsons, Brian McClure of Columbia, Tennessee and Michael (Jennifer) McClure of Loranger, Louisiana; great-grandchildren River, Brylee, Finley, Braylon and Anslee McClure; and extended family the Lloyd Newton family.

Active pallbearers will be Lloyd Newton, Mark Humphries, Roger Scott, Austin Holt, Reed Humphries and Doug Murphy.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Stutts, David Webb, Bobby Darby, Jeff Dowdy and the Elders of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ.
