Mary Janice Lard

 Mary Janice Lard, 80, of Florence, passed away November 29, 2016 at her residence.

Visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2016 from 1-3 p.m. at Woodmont Baptist Church. The funeral service will immediately follow in the worship center at Woodmont Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Thompson. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lard was a member of Woodmont Baptist Church. She was a majorette and a graduate of the University of North Alabama in 1958. She devoted her life to raising her four sons and to companionship with her husband and best friend, Jack. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at TVA until her retirement in 1996.

Mrs. Lard delighted in her family; each son, daughter-in-law, grandchild and great-grandchild was precious to her and she was to each of them.

Known for her cheerfulness and kind spirit, she offered empathy, friendship and encouragement to each person in her life. She maintained a positive outlook despite her lengthy illness. She drew strength, joy and comfort from her faith in Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Lard was preceded in death by her son, Mike Lard, and parents, Charles and Ruby Vawter.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Lard; sons, Jeff Lard and wife Rhonda, Chuck Lard and wife Rebecca, Brad Lard and wife Nancy, and daughter-in-law, Bobbie Rumley; grandchildren, Alan Lard, Ashley Gist (Jeremy), Tyler Lard, Clint Patterson, Kris Lard, James Lard, Catherine Lard, Josh Lard (Carrie), and Dylan Lard; great-grandchildren, Brieann Lard, Peyton and Paxton Gist, Macie Grace Lard, and Layla Jane Lard.

Those wishing to donate in lieu of flowers may give direct donations to the Home of Grace (faith-based recovery center) at www.homeofgrace.org or to The Salvation Army.

Pallbearers will be Josh Lard, Dylan Lard, Tyler Lard, Alan Lard, Glen Marks and Kenny Shook.
