Mr. Johnston Ripley (Jack) Beacom Jr., 88, of Florence passed away on August 28, 2015. He retired as a mechanical engineer from Champion Paper Mill and was also a United States Navy veteran. He was a member of Underwood Baptist Church where he loved to play his trombone for the church orchestra. He was also an avid gardener.
Visitation will be Monday, August 31, at Greenview Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Donnie McDaniel and the Rev. Matt Buerhaus officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenview Memorial Park/Love Mausoleum. Military Funeral honors will be accorded at graveside.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Azzolina Beacom; parents, Johnston and Eunice Hungerbeeler Beacom; brother, George Beacom.
Survivors include his son, John R. Beacom, III (Mariette) of Jena, Louisiana; daughter, Sharon Burchell (Charles) of Florence; AL grandchildren, Charlie Burchell of Brentwood, Tennessee,Adam Burchell(Ashley) of Florence, Tiffinnie Burchell of Brentwood, Tennessee, John R. Beacom, IV, (Ashton Mallary) of Bryan, Texas, Ronnie Hamilton (Doris Clinton) of Jewett, Texas and Robert Hamilton(Melissa) of College Station, Texas; great-grandchildren, Bentlee, Emree and Wales Burchell all of Brentwood, Tennessee, Adley Burchell of Florence, AL, Jessie and Josey Hamilton of Jewett, Texas and Cody and Travis Hamilton of College Station, Texas.
Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Young, Steve Abston, Steve Bevis, Charlie Burchell, Adam Burchell and John McDaniel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wales Burchell, John R. Beacom, IV, Ronnie Hamilton and Robert Hamilton.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Hospice of North Alabama and two special caregivers, Gloria Coman and April Chandler.
