Jewel "Judy" Dean Ballard

Mrs. Jewel “Judy” Dean Ballard, 84, of Florence passed away on June 28, 2015. She was a member of New Life Tabernacle church. Judy was well-loved and very active in her church. She was known as “The Candy Lady” Judy loved her church and always wanted to be there no matter how she felt. She was a prayer warrior and all one had to do was to call her and ask her to pray and she would get on her knees.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 12 – 2:00 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.  in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry Dowdy and the Rev. Travis Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Ballard was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Amon Ballard; mother, Madgie Mae Penney; daughter, Patricia Ballard, brother, Lewis Lawson, grandparents, Thomas and Mary Henson.

Survivors include her son, Amon Ballard; daughter, Martha Greer, both of Florence; sisters, Biddie Smith (Jimmie) of Florence, Mary Marks (Charles) of Greenhill, Linda Caster of Ocalla, FL, Josephine Tyler of Killen; grandchildren, Jeff Greer (Charlean), Laryssa Self (Brian) of Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Justin Greer of Huntsville, Brennan and Caitlyn Greer of Ardmore, AL and Nathen and Lillian Self of Birmingham, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Dailey, Jeffrey Marks, Michael Tank, Tristan Dailey, Connor Dailey and Justin Greer.

Joseph Dailey will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
