Howard Eugene King, 91, of Florence, passed away June 28, 2015.
Howard was born and raised in Tuscumbia, but had lived in Florence for the past 65 years. He was self-employed at the time of his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II. He served in the South Pacific. He was a graduate of Florence State Teachers College (UNA), class of 1951. Howard and his wife, Cora, would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on February 7, 2011.
Howard was preceded in death by wife, Cora; his father Lester E. King; mother Vergie E. King; brother Hillman H. King and sister Mildred King Enlow-Gargis. He is survived by seven nieces and one nephew.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Greenview Memorial Chapel on July 8. The graveside service will follow at Valhermoso Springs, Alabama, at Christian Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Officiating the service will be Chris Underwood. Greenview Memorial Funeral Home will be in charge of burial. Pallbearers will be Frank Niedergeses, Sam Walker, Brent Hines, Kenneth Monk, and Dee Monk.
