Danie Steve Garner

Danie Steve Garner, 68, of Florence, passed away on April 05, 2017 at his home. He retired from Norfolk Southern after 38 years as an engineer and was a member of the United Transportation Union. He served our country in the United States Army.

He was a loving husband, great father and grandfather. He loved each of his grandkids and great-grandkids.  He was a wonderful farmer and he always grew a big garden and enjoyed sharing his crops with everyone he knew, even at the Farmer’s Market.

Visitation will be at Greenview Funeral Home Friday, April 07, 2017 from 6-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, April 08, 2017 at 2:30 in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Andy Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Roger’s Chapel Cemetery with military funeral honors accorded at graveside.

He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Keith Garner; mother, Dorothy Odella Hipps and father, James Stevenson Garner.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Lynn Rumble Garner; daughters, Tammie Renea and husband, Jessie Thigpen and Donna Fay and husband Kenneth Sykes; brother, Gary “Butch” and wife Pat Garner; sisters, Delores “Toots” and husband, Kenneth “Tuck” Rhodes and Bobbie and husband Dennis Wilson; grandchildren, Wendy Davis, Stephen Thigpen, Katrina Harrison, Patrick, Holden, Seth, Brent and Victoria Sykes and Kasey Jo Deaton; great-grandchildren, Dixie Hester, Scarlett and Mason Davis and Noah and Nikkolas Elliotte.

He will be missed tremendously by his wife, two daughters and all his grandkids and great-grandkids, nieces and nephews and numerous friends.  He was a man with a big heart who would help anyone at the drop of a hat.

Serving as active pallbearers will be, Stephen Thigpen, Damien Caperton, Gary “Butch” Garner, Lonnie Creasy, Jimmy Lee Davis III, Kenneth Sykes and Patrick Sykes.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Warren, Holden Sykes, Seth Sykes, Brent Sykes, Lyndell Rhodes and nephews.
