Claud Allen Caddell, Jr.

Claud Allen Caddell, Jr. age 84, of Florence, passed away November 20, 2014 at E.C.M. Hospital. Claud was born in Winfield, Ala. on May 31, 1930. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1948, and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church of Florence since 1958 where he was a member of the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class. He was involved with community service delivering Meals on Wheels. He attended Massey Business College, was a member of the Masons Winfield Lodge #304, the American Legion of Florence, a Purchasing Agent for Matthews Electric Supply Company in Birmingham, Ala., General Electric Supply Company in Anniston, Ala. from 1954 – 1955, Area Sales Manager for General Electric Supply Company in Florence, Ala. where he retired after 34 years of service. Claud served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 – 1953. He married Frances Johnson of Geneva, Ala. March 23, 1957. Claud was a loving husband, father, and grandfather known as “Pops”.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 1 – 3 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Brothers Bart Bowlin, Jim Webster, and Chuck Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Mr. Caddell was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claud A. Caddell, Sr.; wife’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances Caddell; children, Allen Caddell and wife Melanie, Lisa Rhodes and husband Wendell, grandchildren, Morgan, Rena, Colman and Savana Caddell, Karah Rhodes; siblings,Valeria Hughes, Nell Attaway, Dean Snowden.

Pallbearers will include Bernie Akin, Johnny Wayne Putman, Ronnie Harding, Campbell King, Johnny Wallace, and Morgan Caddell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. James United Methodist Church for the Rachel Chard Fund.
