Carolyn Witt Wallace, 80, of Florence, Alabama passed away Friday November 3, 2017 at Helen Keller Hospital. 

Born in Florence, Alabama on August 22, 1937. The beloved wife of the late Harry (H.B.) Wallace for 43 years.  The couple married July 7, 1957, in Florence, Alabama and relocated to Peoria, Illinois where they lived 35 years.  

Carolyn was a devoted caring mother and survived by two daughters, Karen (Gary) Addison of Florence; Brenda (Eric) Metz of Stafford, TX.  A loving grandmother to her six grandsons, Greg Kilborn of Florence, AL; Josh Kilborn of Houston, Tx; Dustyn Kilborn of Boulder, CO; Derek Metz (Amelia) of Pearland, TX; Shane Addison of Florence, AL; and Jeremy Metz of Stafford, TX.  A new and first great grandson, Harrison Metz.  Sisters, Ila Jean Wallace of Whiteville, TN; Betty Olive of Florence, AL; Dorothy Greene of Florence, AL; Mary Sharp of Florence, AL; Francine Young of Florence, AL; Dianne Cypert of Florence, AL. One brother, Danny Witt of Florence, AL.  Many nieces and nephews she loved very much.  She was preceded in death by her husband, H.B.; parents; Clyde and Etta Young Witt; son, Harry (Mark) Wallace; three brothers, Vergil Witt, James Witt, T.C. Witt; and a sister, Ruth Witt Grigsby.

Carolyn was a 1955 graduate of Central High School and a longtime member of the Glendale Church of Christ.  She loved people, especially children and worked many years as a cafeteria supervisor at the Robein Grade School in East Peoria, Illinois.  When husband, H.B. retired in 1992, the couple moved back to their Central Heights hometown.  Carolyn went to work at Mars Hill Bible School in 1993 and continued to work there through May 2017.  She will be lovingly remembered for her warm welcoming smile, genuine kindness, her love for people and animals.  She adored her two cats Sam and Freddie.  Along with many precious memories that include treasured family gatherings in her home with her serving her all-time favorite chicken stew and peach cobbler made the way her grandmother taught her. 

Visitation will be held at the Glendale Church of Christ where family will be together from 11:00 to noon.  The visitation for friends will be 1:00 to 3:00 on Saturday November 11th followed with the Celebration of Life service at 3:00 p.m.  Burial service will be at the Greenview Cemetery in Florence, AL and officiated by Joel Caudle and Ben Siegel.  

Grandsons will be pallbearers and Danny Witt is honorary pallbearer.

 Memorials may be made in her honor to Glendale Church of Christ, Mars Hill Bible School, or your favorite animal organization
