Barbara Wade Cox

Barbara Wade Cox, 89, passed from this life on March 31, 2018 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Center.

Barbara lived in Florence since 1938 and graduated with a BA degree from Florence State Teacher’s College (now UNA) in 1950.When she retired from professional work as an executive secretary in1999, she had served the University of North Alabama for 49 years. In retirement, she donated many hours to help in the work of Florence-Lauderdale Public Library.

Most important was her service to her Lord. Since 1938 she faithfully attended Poplar Street Church of Christ (now Wood Avenue Church of Christ).

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Hortense Wade Cox and Reuben H. Cox. She is survived by her many friends; special friends, the Kenneth Davis family and Becky Staggs; and several cousins.

There will be a visitation from 1-2 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brian Giselbach and Kenneth Davis officiating.
