Annie Olive (Taylor) Sego

November 14, 1926 ~ August 28, 2015 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Annie Olive Taylor Sego, 88, of Florence, died Friday, August 28, 2015, at ECM Hospital.  Visitation will be from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Greenview Chapel.  The service will follow at 3:30 p.m. with the Reverend Philip Springer officiating and Reverend Bryan McIntyre assisting.  Interment will be at the Florence City Cemetery.
Annie spent her childhood in the Allsboro community of Colbert County, Alabama, where she was born.  Annie had very fond memories of growing up in Allsboro and often related stories of her childhood.  She especially enjoyed time working in the fields with her father Atlas Claud Taylor.  In her older years she told all that would listen that “Amazing Grace” was her daddy’s favorite song and that she recalled him singing or humming the song as he worked.  Annie’s mother, Roxie Mae Massey Taylor, was widowed when Annie was only 10-years old and bravely continued rearing a family of six daughters.
Annie graduated from Cherokee High School and worked as a nurse’s aide at Colbert County Hospital.  In her first semester at Florence State College in 1946, she met Jamie Sego.  They fell in love and were married February 15, 1947.
Jamie and Ann settled in the Cloverdale community where they brought up their family.  Ann was an active Christian and member of Salem Methodist Church in Cloverdale for 69 years.  She loved the people of her church and community.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jamie Lee Sego, her parents Atlas Claud Taylor and Roxie Massey Taylor and five sisters, Amy Etta Taylor, China Harrison, Bethany Claunch, Mattie Mae Taylor, and Beulah Walker.
Mrs. Sego is survived by her children, Mary Angel and husband Kenneth; Betty Vickery and husband Don; Martha McDuff and husband Dwayne; James Sego and wife Donna, and her grandchildren, Steve Angel, Jennifer Angel Kerby and husband Jeremy, Josh Angel, Brian Vickery and wife Angie, Brad Vickery and wife Brandy; Samantha McDuff Allen and husband Kyle, Amanda McDuff, Summer McDuff; Jamie Sego, Wesley Sego and wife Kathleen, Matt Sego, Luke Sego and wife Emily, and Jason Sego.  Mrs. Sego is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Ricky Irons, ECM staff, Doris Hendrix, and friends who have been so kind during her brief illness
